James Springall appropriates found imagery to take it out of context and create alternate narratives. This reordering of existing material subverts its original message giving it an entirely new identity whilst making modern-day social commentary.
Springall’s work has been shown at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Saatchi Gallery in London. He recently curated two exhibitions of contemporary collage: Tribute to Viborg, 1018 - 2018 at the Viborg Contemporary Collage Art Museum in Denmark (2018) and The International Weird Collage Show at Jealous Gallery in London, UK (2018). He is profiled in the Age of Collage 3 published by Gestalten and released in 2020.
